I grew up in Whitby. I chose to raise my family here. And every day I get to walk into an office that reflects everything I love about this town.
My office, the Whitby Nook, is located at 413 Byron St S, inside one of Whitby's designated heritage buildings. Known as the William Carpenter House, this three bay, storey and a half clapboard home dates back to circa 1854 and stands as a surviving example of mid 19th century architecture in Whitby. From 1858 to 1900 it was occupied by the Doug Betts family, and today it carries the official heritage designation from the Town of Whitby.
There is something special about doing business in a space with that kind of history. It is not a glass tower that could be anywhere. It is part of the fabric of this community, just like the families and clients I get to work with every day.
Why I Wanted an Office Like This
Before real estate, I spent years in construction and roofing. That background gave me a real appreciation for craftsmanship, character, and buildings with history. When the opportunity came to operate out of a heritage property in the heart of Old Whitby, it felt like the right fit for who I am and how I do business.
This office is not about impressing people. It is about creating a space where clients feel comfortable. Whether you are a first-time buyer nervous about your first offer, a growing family weighing whether to move up, or someone navigating the sale of a loved one's estate, this is a place to sit down, talk honestly, and figure out the right path forward together.
About Robert Turnbull and TURNBULL Real Estate
I am a Sales Representative with The Nook Realty Inc., Brokerage, operating under the TURNBULL Real Estate brand. My background in construction and roofing gives me a unique perspective on property condition, preparation, and presentation, all of which play a major role in how I help clients buy and sell across Durham Region and the GTA.
I primarily serve Whitby, Ajax, Oshawa, Clarington, and the surrounding Durham Region communities, with listings that have also extended into Mississauga and the Kawartha Lakes area. Whether you are buying your first home, growing into a bigger space, navigating an estate sale, or selling a property you have loved for years, I bring the same approach to every transaction. Preparation matters. Presentation matters. And the people behind the property always matter most.
A Heritage Building Built for Real Conversations
The Whitby Nook office offers a warm, inviting space to meet, whether you are an active client or just exploring your options. There are no high pressure sales tactics here. Just honest conversations in a building that has stood in this community for over 170 years.
If you are in Whitby and want to stop by, the door is open. If you are anywhere across Durham Region or the GTA and want to talk through your real estate goals, I would love to meet you here.
